Diamond Nines

Diamond Nines are fantastic for stimulating debate and encouraging critical thinking.

Five examples to get you started:

1 – You’ll find the list used in the video above, right here as part of Scotdec’s Changing Habits For Good resource, which includes exploring mobile phones, electronic waste and the environmental impact of our consumption.

2 – This activity is taken from STRIDE Magazine and looks at the actions we can take to tackle climate change.

3 – Here’s another great resource from the Changing Habits For Good project. It explores a wide range of issues connected to clothes and the production of jeans. The whole resource is packed full of ideas and activities and you’ll find the Diamond Nine activity on the last page.

4 – On the last page of our own Nelson Mandela resource, you’ll find a Diamond Nine for exploring whose responsibility it is to stop racism. There’s more throughout the resource that encourages critical thinking, including how to look at bias in media reporting.

5 – In Oxfam’s Global Citizenship: A Guide for Teachers, you’ll find the ‘best way to take action on issues you care about’ Diamond Nine, available on p19.
