Projects and Partnerships
WOSDEC has extensive experience of leading and partnering with other organisations on a wide range of projects which promote Global Citizenship in schools and communities.
Current Projects
Global Citizenship in Scotland (GCiS)
WOSDEC is funded by the Scottish Government to coordinate and deliver Global Citizenship in Scotland (GCiS), a national project that supports educators to embed Global Citizenship across teaching and learning, as a key strand of Learning for Sustainability.
Social Justice, Rights and Equality
WOSDEC has co-designed an animation to support educators to embed Social Justice, Rights and Equalities (SJRE) across Early learning Centres, schools and communities. Designed in collaboration with Hannah Moitt, a multimedia graphic designer, the animations can be accessed on Education Scotland’s SJRE website.
Education Institute of Scotland (EIS)
For many years WOSDEC have worked with the EIS to deliver Professional Learning for their members. This has included Rights, Anti-Racism, Learning for Sustainability and Peace Education.
Anti-Racist Education Resource www.antiracisted.scot
WOSDEC, along with Scotdec, has developed an online Anti-Racist Education resource as part of the Health and Wellbeing curriculum. The resource, funded through the Scottish Government’s Anti Racism in Education Programme (AREP), supports educators across all levels of Curriculum for Excellence to build an anti-racist curriculum.
Global Storylines and Theatre of the Oppressed
WOSDEC are partners with Active Inquiry (hyperlink) on this Paul Hamlyn funded project. Working with schools across 4 different local authorities, we are exploring how we can (a) write new stories based on what social justice issues are important to learners and their local communities, and (b) enhance our existing Global Storyline work (hyperlink) using Theatre of the Oppressed pedagogical approaches.
Quakers
WOSDEC and the Quakers have a longstanding partnership where we co-design and co-deliver Peace Education, as well as advocating for increased Peace Education within the Curriculum.

partner with schools both nationally and internationally, collaborating on the Sustainable Development Goals.
Identify opportunities for meaningful, inclusive, real-life learning, making links to Curriculum for Excellence and other educational priorities.

We worked in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Scottish Memorial Foundation to create this educational resource which uses the context of apartheid era South Africa to celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela, his links to Scotland and the activism of the Scottish anti-apartheid movement. It gives teachers tools to explore examples of modern day racism with learners, and strategies to challenge this. We have trained teachers across the West of Scotland on use of the resource.
